Russian and Ukrainian forces exchanged attacks on Sunday, July 27, 2026, resulting in at least 10 deaths. Kyiv reported that Russian strikes killed six people, including a child at a supermarket in the northern city of Chernihiv. Russian forces launched ballistic missile attacks on Kyiv and other regions. Meanwhile, Moscow stated that Ukrainian strikes killed four people, including in a drone attack on the Moscow-occupied city of Horlivka.
Ukraine’s air force announced that Russia launched seven ballistic missiles and 136 drones overnight. In the eastern Donetsk region, the Ukrainian national oil and gas company Naftogaz reported that two of its employees died in a Russian attack in Sloviansk while assisting residents affected by an earlier strike.
These attacks followed Moscow’s claim that a Ukrainian strike on a Russian-occupied town on the Azov Sea killed 12 people the previous day. Civilian casualty rates have increased sharply in 2026 in both Russia and Ukraine, according to the United Nations.
At least 21 people have been killed as Ukraine and Russia continue to trade attacks, with at least 15 deaths reported in Ukrainian and Russian strikes, including an incident at a holiday camp.
Additionally, Romania summoned the Russian envoy after shooting down a third intruding drone.
