Tadej Pogacar claimed his record-equalling fifth Tour de France title on Sunday, July 26, 2026, joining Jacques Anquetil, Eddy Merckx, Bernard Hinault, and Miguel Indurain as the most successful riders in the race's history. The 27-year-old Slovenian dominated the event, winning five stages and wearing the yellow jersey since his victory in the Pyrenean sixth stage.

Pogacar now holds 26 stage victories in total, ranking fourth on the all-time list behind Mark Cavendish (35), Merckx (34), and Hinault (28). He also surpassed Indurain and Chris Froome for total days spent in yellow with 70, trailing only Hinault (75) and Merckx (96).

The final stage around Paris was won by Mathieu van der Poel, who broke away in the last 700 metres as Pogacar's strength waned. Meanwhile, teenager Seixas secured an impressive fourth place overall.

French cycling great Julian Alaphilippe, a two-time world champion who famously held the yellow jersey for 14 days in 2019, announced that this was his final Tour de France. Notably, this edition marked only the third time in 113 races (after 1926 and 1999) that no French cyclist won a stage.
