Slovenian cyclist Tadej Pogacar won the Tour de France for the fifth time on Sunday, July 27, 2026, equalling the record held by Jacques Anquetil, Eddy Merckx, Bernard Hinault, and Miguel Indurain. This victory marks Pogacar's third consecutive Tour de France win.

The 27-year-old UAE Team Emirates rider, nicknamed “Pogi,” secured the title by safely completing the final stage, which was won by Mathieu van der Poel. The final stage was shortened to 89 kilometers from the originally scheduled 133 kilometers, due to the withdrawal of Pogacar’s main rival, two-time Tour winner Jonas Vingegaard, who crashed out on Stage 15.

Pogacar expressed his gratitude, saying, “Thank you to all the fans and to all of France for hosting this great race.” Van der Poel, who won the last stage, reflected on his own challenges, stating, “When I was sick last year, and I had to watch the stage on television, I was already thinking about this moment.”

The Tour de France traditionally concludes with several laps along the Champs-Elysees in Paris, where Pogacar sealed his historic victory.
