The UN Security Council convened on Monday, 27 July 2026, at the request of Ukraine to address recent large-scale Russian attacks on Kyiv and other locations. On 19 July, an overnight strike on Kyiv resulted in the death of at least one civilian and injured more than a dozen others. The attack also caused damage to homes and civilian infrastructure. Ukrainian authorities characterized this assault as one of the largest and most intense since the beginning of the invasion.
