More than 42,000 hectares have been consumed by wildfires in the Gironde region of southwestern France, with flames moving closer to the city of Bordeaux. Authorities report that 240 homes have already been destroyed by the fires. The wildfires now pose a threat to some of France's most sensitive defence and space industry sites, including those operated by ArianeGroup, Dassault, and Thales.

The situation remains critical as emergency services work to contain the spread of the fires and protect both residential areas and strategic industrial facilities.
