A US teenager, Colt Gray, was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole on Tuesday, July 28th, 2026, for a school shooting that killed four people in Georgia.
Gray, now 16, pleaded guilty to the September 2024 attack at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia. He was 14 years old when he shot dead two 14-year-old students and two teachers, and wounded nine others. The gun used in the shooting was a Christmas present from his father.
Superior Court Judge Nicholas Primm sentenced Gray as an adult and remarked, “You were failed by your extended family. That failure does not absolve you from who you chose to idolise, worship and become.”
Gray’s sentencing marks a significant moment in the aftermath of the tragic event that deeply affected the local community.
