Johnthony Walker, 34, who was convicted of negligent homicide in a 2016 school bus crash in Chattanooga, Tennessee, that killed six children and injured dozens more, is back in jail facing several new charges.

According to records from the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, Walker was booked into a Nashville jail on Monday, July 27, 2026, on seven new charges related to an alleged domestic violence incident. These charges include aggravated assault by strangulation, aggravated burglary, child abuse, interference with an emergency call, and three sex-offender violations.

Walker was originally convicted in 2018 and sentenced to four years in prison for the bus crash. Two years after that conviction, in 2020, the Davidson County District Attorney reported that Walker pleaded guilty to rape. He was also indicted on statutory rape charges.

At the time of the 2016 crash, Walker was working as a school bus driver for a Chattanooga school district and was reportedly traveling at high speeds while transporting elementary school students.

This latest arrest marks another legal challenge for Walker, a repeat offender with a history of serious criminal convictions.
