A fire broke out early Wednesday morning, July 29th, 2026, at a metal house in Ling Shan Tsuen village in Fanling, Hong Kong, resulting in the death of a man and the evacuation of 78 people along with four dogs and cats.

Authorities were alerted to the blaze at around 4:30 a.m. Upon arrival, police observed some electrical wires burning at the scene. Firefighters managed to extinguish the flames by approximately 5 a.m.

The deceased, estimated to be between 50 and 60 years old, was certified dead at the scene. Additionally, a 12-year-old girl was taken to North District Hospital in Sheung Shui after reporting dizziness.

The incident highlights ongoing concerns about fire safety in village housing areas.
