A former juror in the Alex Murdaugh murder trial is pushing to make public the state's investigation into alleged jury tampering during the 2023 trial. Myra Crosby, widely known as the "egg juror" after her dismissal just hours before deliberations, filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request in May seeking access to records related to Becky Hill, the former Colleton County, South Carolina court clerk.

Hill is accused of influencing jurors in the case, which led to the South Carolina Supreme Court describing her actions as "unexpected jury interference." This interference was a key factor in overturning Murdaugh's original conviction for the June 7, 2021, shooting deaths of his wife and son. Murdaugh is now set for a retrial.

Crosby’s efforts to unseal the investigation records aim to provide public transparency regarding the jury tampering allegations. She gained her nickname after she was dismissed and famously requested to retrieve a carton of eggs and her purse left in the jury room. The request for public access to the investigation was reported by WCSC.

The case remains under close scrutiny as Hill faces a civil lawsuit from Murdaugh, whose murder convictions were reversed due to the alleged jury tampering.
