Alan Jones, a former prominent figure in Sydney media, is set to begin a lengthy judge-only trial at the Downing Centre in Sydney's CBD on July 31, 2026. The 85-year-old broadcaster has pleaded not guilty to 22 charges of indecent assault and sexual touching involving six male complainants.

Jones, who had retired from radio but maintained occasional appearances on Sky News and ADH TV, faced a media frenzy at his first court appearance in December 2024. At that time, he told media outside Sydney's Local Court he would be defending what he called "baseless" charges.

The alleged incidents span from 2003 to 2020 and reportedly occurred at Jones's apartment inside 'The Toaster' on Macquarie Street, at a public event, or at his former property in Fitzroy Falls in the Southern Highlands.

Unlike earlier suggestions that Jones might face a jury, the trial will be conducted solely before Judge Glenn Walsh, who stated, "I am both the judge of law and the judge of fact." More than 70 witnesses are expected to give evidence during the proceedings.

Jones’s lawyers have indicated their client is "anxious" to have his day in court but that he will not be providing ongoing commentary to the media.
