China has publicly acknowledged the recent expansion of its nuclear missile silo infrastructure. A documentary aired on state broadcaster CCTV featured Cui Daohu, an officer with the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Rocket Force engineering unit, who detailed his role in constructing these missile positions.
Cui described the missile silos as China’s "strategic trump cards," emphasizing the tight but successfully met construction schedule. He explained that each completed silo allows for more weapons to be deployed and combat ready earlier. The documentary, titled Securing Victory, was part of CCTV’s programming for the 99th anniversary of the PLA.
While Cui did not specify the missile types involved, he noted the engineering challenges faced, including erecting an extremely heavy core component and precisely assembling two large sections on site without damage. He stated, "It falls to us to conquer the mountains and the deserts, ensuring that our country can play her ultimate strategic trump cards."
This rare official acknowledgment provides insight into China's ongoing efforts to enhance its strategic nuclear capabilities.
