California Governor Gavin Newsom and his wife, Jennifer Siebel Newsom, have released more than 700 pages of tax filings covering the years 2022 through 2024. The documents show the couple earned between $1.7 million and $2 million annually during this period and paid approximately half a million dollars each year in federal and state taxes.

The tax returns provide insight into the Newsoms' finances as Gavin Newsom prepares to leave office and contemplates a 2028 presidential run. The couple did not release their 2025 tax returns, having filed for an extension; those returns are expected to be completed by October.

Since Newsom took office in 2019, the couple's income has remained relatively stable, with an exception in 2021 when they sold a Marin County house for nearly $6 million, netting roughly $800,000 from the sale. That year, their income rose to $4.2 million, and they paid over $1 million in taxes.

The release comes amid increased scrutiny of the Newsoms' finances following an investigation launched by the US Justice Department, which Governor Newsom announced last month.

Additional details from the filings reveal the Newsoms paid between $14,000 and $44,000 annually for childcare for three of their four children. They have also donated thousands of dollars' worth of clothing, toys, and other items to thrift stores and nonprofits. Notably, in 2022, they donated Armani business attire originally purchased for $45,000 to a racial justice organization in Oakland.

Jennifer Siebel Newsom's business produced the 2011 documentary "Miss Representation," which addresses negative portrayals of women and girls in media, along with two other films.
