Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios have released the trailer for "Spider-Man: Brand New Day," starring Tom Holland as Peter Parker, Zendaya as MJ, Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, Jon Bernthal, and Mark Ruffalo. The film follows Peter Parker adapting to life in complete isolation in New York City after the events of the 2021 film "No Way Home," where everyone's memories of him were erased to protect those he loves.

Having lost his Aunt May, Peter vows to protect MJ and his best friend Ned, whose memories of him are gone. Peter's only connection to them is through watching Ned's Instagram videos showing Ned and MJ living their lives as MIT students. Meanwhile, a mysterious telepathic villain wreaks havoc in New York, jumping from body to body in search of something called "V-Max." This villain can take over anyone's mind but ultimately faces Spider-Man.

The tone of "Brand New Day" marks a departure from previous films, focusing on Peter's loneliness, which affects him physically and even impacts his superpowers. Despite MJ's memory of Peter being erased, she retains enough to play a significant role, while Ned is notably sidelined.

The film features familiar Marvel Cinematic Universe faces such as Bruce Banner/The Incredible Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and Frank Castle/The Punisher (Jon Bernthal), alongside new characters like Detective Jean DeWolff. Director Cretton balances the film's emotional depth with action, drawing on his experience from the 2013 indie drama "Short Term 12."
