President Donald Trump and White House deputy chief of staff for policy Stephen Miller have issued warnings that the migrant crisis unfolding in Spain’s autonomous city of Ceuta could mirror a future scenario for the United States if Democrats win upcoming elections.

According to Ceutan President Juan Jesús Vivas, some 60,000 migrants entered Ceuta from Morocco within 24 hours, with more than 40 fatalities reported. The Associated Press attributes this information to Vivas.

Trump told Fox News’s Jacqui Heinrich on Friday, July 31, 2026, “That’s going to be us in three years if the wrong side gets in. If the Democrats get in, you will not live a very good life.”

Miller reposted a video of migrants breaching Spain’s border on social media, stating, “Democrats did this to America every single day for 4 years under Biden.” He added that Democrats “will do it again instantaneously, but orders of magnitude greater, if they are given any form of national power,” and wrote, “Democrats will see your home trampled and stolen by invaders and they will rejoice.”

Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez traveled to Ceuta on July 31 and condemned the migrant influx. He blamed human smugglers, stating they “deceive so many young people, and ultimately lead many of them to their deaths — whether in the ocean or, as in this case, at Spain’s border in the autonomous city of Ceuta.”

Immigration has been a significant topic for Republicans during the 2024 election cycle, with Trump pledging to increase immigration enforcement.
