China State Railway Group is increasing shipments of air conditioners to Europe as the continent faces severe heat waves this summer. The company is leveraging the China-Europe freight rail line, part of China's Belt and Road infrastructure initiative, to significantly reduce transport time.
The rail link cuts delivery time to around 15 days, compared with approximately 40 days via sea routes, effectively shaving 25 days off the transit period. This expedited freight service originates from cities including Dalian and Chongqing in China and aims to meet the urgent demand for cooling appliances in Europe.
This development highlights the growing role of rail freight in international logistics, particularly under pressing climate conditions.
