A police officer injured in an alleged stabbing incident in Adelaide's northern suburbs this week has been discharged from hospital and is focusing on recovery amid widespread support.
SA Police Commissioner Grant Stevens reported that on Wednesday, a man allegedly rushed at police officers with a large knife in Elizabeth East. The man was shot in the leg by a male officer but continued to charge forward and allegedly stabbed senior constable Jessie in the neck.
The 27-year-old man from Woodville Gardens faced the Elizabeth Magistrates Court via phone on charges including attempted murder and aggravated assault. He was remanded in custody pending a further hearing in November.
Commissioner Stevens praised Jessie and her police partner for their "significant courage" during the incident.
In a statement on Saturday, police confirmed Jessie had left the hospital and would continue to receive full support during her recovery. They also thanked medical staff from SA Ambulance and the Royal Adelaide Hospital for their care and acknowledged the many messages of support from policing colleagues and the community.
The incident remains under a major crime investigation and a Police Commissioner's Inquiry.
