TUCSON, Ariz. — Six months after Nancy Guthrie, mother of "Today" co-host Savannah Guthrie, was reportedly abducted from her Catalina Foothills home in February, investigators remain actively engaged in the case. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos announced on August 1, 2026, that investigators are reviewing "tens of thousands" of video clips in their ongoing search for evidence.

Sheriff Nanos released two purported ransom notes that may have been sent by one of Guthrie's kidnappers, urging anyone with information to come forward. While no arrests have been made and no suspects publicly identified, Nanos expressed optimism that the case will be solved.

"We're not even close to these leads being dried up," he told Fox News Digital. He explained that the investigative team is systematically compartmentalizing the vast amount of video footage, categorizing clips by details such as vehicle descriptions to aid the review process.

Months after Google and the FBI collaborated to recover Nest doorbell footage showing the only known images of a suspect, Nanos said other major companies nationwide are assisting the investigation. He also emphasized the close, ongoing working relationship between local sheriff's detectives and the FBI, with daily coordination and involvement of the FBI's violent crimes task force from the first day.

The investigation is conducted by a Guthrie task force assembled from members of the Southern Arizona Violent Crime Task Force. Sheriff Nanos affirmed that even if current leads were to run out, the case would continue with the cold case unit.
