On Saturday morning, August 1st, 2026, Kyiv was struck by ballistic missiles in an attack attributed to Russia. Kyiv's mayor, Vitali Klitschko, reported that at least three people died and 15 were injured, with one of the injured in serious condition. Several individuals were trapped in a residential building whose first and second floors partially collapsed due to the strikes. Additionally, some warehouses in the city caught fire.

Kyiv's military administration stated that four people had died as a result of the overnight attacks. Witnesses cited by Reuters described more than a dozen explosions shaking the Ukrainian capital.

These attacks come amid intensified bombing campaigns by Moscow in recent weeks. Last week, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with US President Donald Trump and the UK's new Prime Minister Andy Burnham seeking increased support to strengthen Ukraine's air defenses.
