Police in Rochester, New York, are searching for suspects after a woman was fatally shot and three others were wounded in a shooting incident following the city's annual Puerto Rican festival early Saturday morning, August 1st, 2026.
Rochester Police Chief David Smith reported that around 10:30 p.m., a large crowd had gathered and began blocking North Clinton Avenue. As the crowd dispersed around 12:25 a.m., gunshots were fired. By the time officers arrived, an unidentified female victim had succumbed to her injuries.
Three additional victims were wounded: a man in his 20s, a woman in her 30s, and another man in his 40s. According to Chief Smith, their injuries are not life-threatening.
The Puerto Rican festival in Rochester is a weekend-long event that attracts an estimated 25,000 attendees annually. Police continue to seek clues and suspects related to the shooting.
