Ariana Grande, the 33-year-old US singer, has announced she will "step back from visibility" after concluding her Eternal Sunshine world tour next month. A representative told People magazine that this decision comes after her public appearances led to "endless, ongoing public scrutiny" regarding her physical appearance and health.

Grande was scheduled to star in a 2027 revival of Stephen Sondheim's musical Sunday in the Park with George at the Barbican in London, alongside British actor Jonathan Bailey. However, the production company confirmed she will no longer be part of the show and expressed its "complete understanding and support" for her decision.

The scrutiny intensified following the release of her latest album, Petal, and its promotional material. Despite the speculation, her representative emphasized that Grande performs a physically demanding show successfully and healthily every night.

She looks forward to finishing her tour "on a high note, both healthily and happily," before taking a "much-deserved break from public-facing work and appearances."
