Jacob Misiorowski, the Brewers' starting pitcher, delivered a strong performance despite the loss, pitching seven innings with 10 strikeouts, allowing two runs on two hits, and walking one. However, Misiorowski criticized the condition of the mound at Angel Stadium, calling it "awful" and "probably one of the worst mounds I've had. It was dry; it was rock hard."

He added that he had the grounds crew fix the mound multiple times during the game, stating, "I had the guys out there fix it three times, two times. And we got it back to being decent, but yeah, it was awful; it's bad."

Despite his criticism, Misiorowski acknowledged the situation, saying, "It is what it is and you can't blame it on that. And I got to do my job."

The Angels had also made headlines the previous day by abruptly scratching starting pitcher José Soriano from the lineup. The team's front office issued a statement explaining the decision was due to the possibility of a trade ahead of Monday's deadline.

Notably, Angel Stadium had earlier closed an entire seating section this season due to a pest issue.
