Madison Brooks, a 19-year-old Louisiana State University (LSU) student, was fatally struck by a car in Baton Rouge in 2023 after allegedly being raped by a group of men who then dumped her from a vehicle on a highway. The driver involved in the fatal crash was cleared of charges.

Three years after the incident, one of the accused, 21-year-old Desmond Carter, is scheduled to appear before a judge later this month. Prosecutors allege that Carter, along with Kaivon Washington and Casen Carver, sexually assaulted Brooks inside a vehicle following a night of drinking at a local bar.

According to local outlet WBRZ, Carter's defense team has filed a motion seeking to ban pink clothing and attire with supportive messages from being worn by Brooks' friends, family, and supporters during the trial. The defense argues that such displays could intimidate the jury and compromise Carter's right to a fair trial.

Security footage shows Madison Brooks leaving Tigerland Bar, Reggie's, with four men on January 15, 2023, which was the last known sighting of her before the fatal accident.

The motion highlights the ongoing legal proceedings and the defense's efforts to ensure impartiality in the courtroom.
