Despite having two and a half years left in office, President Donald Trump may have only three months to effectively implement his agenda, podcaster Dave Rubin said on Tuesday, August 4th, 2026, during an episode of "Hang Out with Sean Hannity."
Rubin warned that if Republicans lose control of the House in this year's midterm elections, Trump could become entangled in impeachment proceedings. "If [Republicans] lose the House, [President Trump] is going to get hung up in impeachment," Rubin said. However, he added, "He'll be impeached, but he probably won't be removed from office. They're not going to get enough votes in the Senate one way or another."
Rubin also highlighted that the midterms represent a critical moment for the MAGA movement, stating, "The point is that the process to end these last 10 years of MAGA and everything that has happened since 2015 will begin."
In addition to the threat of impeachment, Rubin noted that Trump is likely to face challenges beyond typical policymaking hurdles if Democrats gain ground in Congress. He also pointed to internal conflicts within the Republican Party, referencing a "GOP civil war" over Trump's agenda, with some key Republicans threatening to oppose major legislation.
Meanwhile, Republicans in Washington, D.C., have expressed concern that Trump's demand to cancel the August recess could hurt GOP candidates, as vulnerable incumbents emphasize the need to campaign and connect with constituents rather than remain on Capitol Hill.
Rubin acknowledged that while it is a common refrain to call the upcoming midterms "the most important election of all time," he does not see "how it could possibly be more important than it is right now."
