A 38-year-old man, Jeanine John Taele of Downey, was arrested on Sunday, August 4, 2026, at the Trump National Golf Club in Los Angeles County after being observed taking photos and videos of the property, authorities said. The arrest came a day before it was announced that former President Donald Trump would visit the Rancho Palos Verdes property for a Republican National Committee dinner.

Deputies responded following reports from plainclothes federal agents of a "suspicious individual" who appeared to be monitoring security-planning activities on the golf course grounds. Upon detaining Taele, deputies found a 16-round magazine with hollow-point ammunition in his pants pocket and a loaded pistol with an additional loaded magazine containing hollow-point ammunition in his vehicle.

Taele was arrested for carrying a concealed firearm and possession of armor-piercing or prohibited ammunition. He was also under investigation for a robbery by police in El Segundo.

Due to the "potential security implications surrounding the incident," detectives executed a search warrant at Taele's residence on Monday afternoon. They recovered additional firearms and ammunition, multiple notebooks containing concerning statements, body armor, and two radio signal devices, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
