Left-wing Twitch streamer Hasan Piker sharply criticized Democrats who opposed Abdul El-Sayed during the Senate candidate’s election night event on Tuesday, August 5th, at the Majestic Theatre in Detroit. Piker rejected calls for El-Sayed to mend fences with skeptical party members, instead accusing them of Islamophobia.

"Like everyone being like, Abdul has a f–k ton of work to do mending bridges. Here's the f---ing take nuke for you, OK? You are all unbelievably Islamophobic pieces of s–t, OK?" Piker said.

Piker also accused El-Sayed’s critics of spending months branding the former Wayne County health director a terrorist, misogynist, and fake doctor before demanding that he win them over. He questioned whether El-Sayed could secure the pro-Israel vote and broader support, stating, "Can El-Sayed win over, not even the vote necessarily, but like can El-Sayed get the people and the group."

Despite Piker's confrontational stance, El-Sayed took a conciliatory tone before the race was called, promising to begin reconciling with Democrats who had supported his opponent, Stevens. In his victory speech on Wednesday, August 6th, El-Sayed praised Stevens as a dedicated public servant.

The Associated Press declared El-Sayed the winner after he narrowly defeated Stevens in a contest that drew more than $80 million in spending. El-Sayed will face Republican Mike Rogers in the general election.
