Japanese pharmaceutical company Takeda Pharmaceutical is pursuing the inclusion of its dengue vaccine, Qdenga, in India's national immunization program. This move follows the recent approval of Qdenga by India's Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation, marking it as the first vaccine authorized in the country for dengue prevention.

Dengue fever remains a significant health challenge in India, with approximately 120,000 reported infections last year. Takeda's initiative aims to bolster the country's efforts to control the disease through vaccination.

A senior executive from Takeda Pharmaceutical stated the company's goal to have Qdenga incorporated into the national shots program, enhancing accessibility and protection against dengue across India.
