Tennessee Governor Bill Lee endorsed former state Agriculture Commissioner Charlie Hatcher on Tuesday, August 5, 2026, ahead of the GOP primary election on August 6. Hatcher is running against incumbent U.S. Representative Andy Ogles, who is backed by former President Donald Trump.

In a video statement, Lee highlighted his long-standing relationship with Hatcher, saying, "Charlie Hatcher and I have been friends for 25 years," and noting that "for seven years, he served as my commissioner of agriculture. I know his conservative values and how much he loves our country."

Lee also emphasized Hatcher's loyalty to Trump, stating that Hatcher "has stood with President Trump since day one."

Hatcher expressed gratitude for Lee's support, saying, "I especially appreciate the faith he placed in me when he appointed me to serve as Tennessee’s Commissioner of Agriculture. It was an honor to serve in his administration and work on behalf of Tennessee’s farmers, families, and rural communities."

The governor's endorsement came after early voting had ended, making it a last-minute appeal to voters. Lee urged Tennesseans to "Join me in voting for Charlie Hatcher this Thursday, August 6th."
