Investigators in Germany are searching for parts of a second drone believed to have struck an aircraft following the discovery of a drone carrying an explosive device on a runway at Leipzig/Halle Airport. Security sources reported that the drone was found near a Ukrainian Antonov An-124 Condor transport aircraft.

German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt described the incident as "a hybrid attack scenario" and highlighted a "new level of danger." Saxony Interior Minister Armin Schuster confirmed that authorities continue to search for parts of a possible second drone. The Saxony State Criminal Police Office announced that the search for a second unidentified object would resume on Thursday morning, August 6, 2026.

Western officials have repeatedly accused Russia and its proxies of orchestrating attacks and other incidents across Europe, though no direct attribution has been confirmed in this case.
