Investigators in Germany are searching for parts of a second drone believed to have struck an aircraft following the discovery of a drone carrying an explosive device on a runway at Leipzig/Halle Airport.

Security sources reported that the drone was found near a Ukrainian Antonov An-124 Condor transport aircraft. Saxony's State Criminal Police Office stated that the search for a second unidentified object would resume on Thursday morning, August 6, 2026. Saxony Interior Minister Armin Schuster confirmed that authorities continue to look for parts of a possible second drone.

German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt described the incident as "a hybrid attack scenario" and noted a "new level of danger." Western officials have repeatedly accused Russia and its proxies of staging attacks and other incidents across Europe.

The investigation is ongoing as officials work to determine the full circumstances and implications of the drone incidents near Leipzig.
