The CJP's 36-day campaign began as a satirical protest against exam leaks and evolved into a broader expression of young Indians' frustrations with jobs and education.

Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned on July 25, fulfilling a key demand of the CJP after weeks of protests that faced tear gas and baton charges. India's ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) asserts that the resignation demonstrates government accountability, whereas the CJP views it as a concession won through sustained public pressure.

The BJP has launched a coordinated online campaign to reframe the movement's narrative. Members of Parliament Bansuri Swaraj and Sambit Patra shared videos alleging protesters abused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother; Modi responded by saying he forgave those responsible. Meanwhile, "Get Ready With Me" videos, clips from police vans, and self-deprecating memes have kept the protest's spirit alive on social media long after the physical protests ended.

The digital dimension of the conflict also involves questions about platform governance. Meta temporarily removed one of Modi's videos during the protests, later restoring it and apologizing for an automated moderation error. This action drew criticism from senior leaders, including Nishikant Dubey, chairman of Parliament's Standing Committee on Communications and IT, who said it raised "serious questions" about the platform's intent.

Observers note that while Gen Z has gained cultural influence through reels, memes, and satire, the state maintains institutional power via takedown requests, digital surveillance, and investigations. The battle now extends beyond public opinion to how the protests will be historically remembered, with concerns that political agendas are attempting to narrow the broad-based student movement into a communal narrative.

BJP spokesperson Shazia Ilmi rejected claims that the party is trying to divert attention from education reform, stating that some sought to exploit genuine student grievances for political gain.
