Thirteen conservative organizations have called on the U.S. Senate to pass the bipartisan Protect College Sports Act (PCSA), a bill designed to establish new protections and stabilize college athletics. The PCSA, introduced by Senator Maria Cantwell on May 27, 2026, with several bipartisan co-sponsors, seeks to ensure that college sports remain centered on education, character development, personal responsibility, and fair competition. The legislation would guarantee scholarships for ten years, allowing athletes to complete their degrees, and prohibit schools from rescinding scholarships due to injuries.

Conservative groups including the America First Policy Institute, the Bull Moose Project, American Values, the Texas Public Policy Foundation, the Family Business Coalition, and others signed a letter urging the bill's passage. They argue that the PCSA protects student athletes and institutions aligned with conservative values and prevents college sports from evolving into an unregulated professional system that could undermine academic opportunities, institutional values, and women's athletics.

The letter states, "College athletics should remain rooted in education, character development, personal responsibility, and fair competition. Student athletes should be able to benefit from their hard work without turning college sports into an unregulated professional system that sacrifices academic opportunity, institutional values, and women’s athletics. The Protect College Sports Act advances those principles."
