On Thursday, August 6th, 2026, President Donald Trump declared that the United States possesses a "massive" stockpile of munitions despite recent reports indicating that the U.S. Army has nearly exhausted its inventories of two primary long-range precision weapons during a five-month conflict with Iran.

Reuters reported that the Army has used "virtually all" of its stocks of Army Tactical Missile Systems (ATACMS) and Precision Strike Missiles (PrSM). Additionally, inventories of Patriot and THAAD missile interceptors, along with Tomahawk cruise missiles, have been significantly reduced. However, the Pentagon maintains that the U.S. military retains the capabilities necessary to conduct operations worldwide.

Trump responded to these reports by stating in a Wednesday statement to Fox News Digital, "We have far more munitions than anyone in the world, and far more than we need, despite the fact that an unprecedented amount was given away by Crooked Joe Biden and the Biden Administration to Ukraine and Europe at no cost, in one of many of their extremely dumb moves."

He also vowed that "treasonous" leakers responsible for the disclosures are "being hunted down," writing on Truth Social early Thursday.

Chief spokesman Sean Parnell added, "We have executed multiple successful operations across combatant commands while ensuring the U.S. military possesses a deep arsenal of capabilities to protect our people and our interests."

The depletion of munitions was reportedly a major factor in the suspension of air attacks during the conflict. Concerns have also been raised that low inventories might encourage adversaries such as China to take action.
