A magnitude 5.8 earthquake struck off the coast of Occidental Mindoro province in the western Philippines on Friday, August 7, 2026, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS). The quake occurred at 10:38 a.m. local time, about 21 kilometers southwest of Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro, at a depth of 10 kilometers.

Reuters witnesses in Manila reported feeling the shaking in an office building in the capital. As a precaution, employees at a state agency building were asked to evacuate.

PHIVOLCS stated that no damage was expected from the earthquake, though aftershocks were possible.
