Speaking after the NFF's monthly board meeting in Stockholm, Klaveness stated that Infantino "no longer had the confidence of the football community" and "does not have the institutional trust required to govern FIFA stably in the times we are in."

Klaveness highlighted that international football cooperation is currently "very much in trouble," emphasizing the need for unity and a reason to come together. She expressed the NFF's intention to ask Infantino to resign through dialogue with FIFA rather than seeking an extraordinary UEFA board meeting. Since beginning her tenure in March 2022, the 45-year-old Klaveness, a qualified lawyer, has raised multiple concerns with FIFA, including issues around tournament awarding, the inaugural FIFA Peace Prize awarded to U.S. President Donald Trump in December, and the overturning of a ban on American forward Folarin Balogun during the recent World Cup following a call from Trump.

Regarding speculation about her own potential candidacy for FIFA leadership, Klaveness said, "It's not a theme at all - we have no reason to comment on that or any other candidacy, nor are we ready for it."
