Lim Yi Fei, a 25-year-old Singaporean man, was sentenced on Friday, August 7, 2026, to nine months and 31 weeks' jail for multiple offences including outrage of modesty and theft in dwelling committed between 2016 and 2025.
During an investigation into a molestation case, police discovered a mobile phone containing 179 upskirt videos taken over three years. Lim had filmed unknown women on separate occasions between January 2016 and February 2019 at various public locations such as escalators, walkways, streets, and shopping centres. In all videos, he approached women from behind to record their buttocks.
About a week before his arrest for the videos, in September 2019, Lim molested a woman at Serangoon MRT station.
The prosecution described Lim as a "serial, habitual offender" with offences spanning from 2016 to 2025. It was argued that a stiff and deterrent sentence was necessary to emphasize that his "blatant and egregious invasion of his victims' privacy is deserving of strong societal opprobrium and condemnation."
Lim's defense lawyer, Mr Jonathan Wong from Tembusu Law, stated in mitigation that while the conduct appeared ongoing, Lim's actions were not motivated by malice or predatory behavior, and questioned why someone of his profile would act so uncharacteristically.
