SINGAPORE — Lim Yi Fei, a 25-year-old Singaporean man, was sentenced on Friday, August 7, 2026, to nine months and 31 weeks' jail for multiple offences including outrage of modesty and theft in dwelling committed between 2016 and 2025.
While investigating Lim for molestation, police discovered a mobile phone containing 179 upskirt videos taken over three years. These videos, recorded between January 2016 and February 2019, showed Lim approaching unknown women from behind and filming their buttocks at various locations such as escalators, public walkways, streets, and shopping centres.
About a week before his arrest for the upskirt videos, in September 2019, Lim molested a woman at Serangoon MRT station.
Lim pleaded guilty to five charges, including intruding upon the privacy of a woman with intent to insult her modesty and using criminal force with intent to outrage modesty.
The prosecution described Lim as a "serial, habitual offender" with offences dating back to 2016. In sentencing submissions, it was stated that a stiff and deterrent sentence was necessary to impress upon Lim that his "blatant and egregious invasion of his victims' privacy is deserving of strong societal opprobrium and condemnation."
Mr Jonathan Wong from Tembusu Law, representing Lim, argued in mitigation that while there appears to be a continuing pattern of conduct, Lim's actions were not driven by malice or predatory behaviour.
