On Friday, August 7, 2026, a shooting occurred at Debsirin Nonthaburi School, a well-known high school in the Bang Kruai district of Nonthaburi province on the outskirts of Bangkok, Thailand. Police reported that the gunman, identified as a student, killed a teacher before taking his own life. Four other people were injured in the incident.

Local broadcaster Thai PBS initially reported that 10 to 15 people had been injured. Photos from the scene showed students evacuating the school as ambulances attended to the wounded.

Thailand has one of the highest rates of gun ownership in the region, with an estimated 10 million firearms in circulation—approximately one for every seven inhabitants. Despite previous promises to tighten gun laws, shootings have continued to occur. Notably, in 2022, an ex-policeman armed with a gun and knife attacked a nursery in northern Thailand, killing 24 children and 12 adults, marking one of the country's deadliest massacres.
