Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has outlined conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, demanding an end to the United States’ naval blockade and compensation for war damages. The strategic waterway has been a focal point of tension amid ongoing conflicts in the region.

Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian expressed hope that ongoing talks with Oman will produce positive outcomes for the Strait of Hormuz. He called for moving beyond the current state of “neither war nor peace,” signaling a desire for a more stable and peaceful situation.

Meanwhile, the US is seeking commitments to end attacks on ships navigating the waterway, reflecting concerns over security and freedom of navigation in the region. The Pentagon is also reportedly accelerating changes in response to the conflict with Iran, including seeking lower-cost weapons.

The developments come amid heightened geopolitical tensions involving Iran, the US, and regional actors, with the Strait of Hormuz remaining a critical chokepoint for global oil shipments.
