Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Sunday, August 9, 2026, that Israel has rejected United States President Donald Trump’s Board of Peace 15-point plan for Gaza. Netanyahu emphasized that Israel will not withdraw its forces from the Gaza Strip until the Palestinian group Hamas is completely disarmed.

Speaking at a cabinet meeting, Netanyahu referred to the plan, which was endorsed last month by Hamas, saying, “Israel rejects the 15-point document.” He added that the Israeli army will continue to prevent threats against Israeli forces and citizens and will not carry out any withdrawal until Hamas is genuinely disarmed.

Since agreeing to a ceasefire with Hamas last October, Israel has maintained near-daily military operations across Gaza. The US-led Board of Peace, whose director Nickolay Mladenov recently met with Netanyahu, stated last week that Israeli withdrawal from Gaza would only occur after Hamas’s disarmament is complete.
