A wildfire ignited shortly after 4 p.m. on Thursday, August 7th, 2026, near Montséret in the Aude region of southern France. The fire, which started following a road accident, has burned around 100 hectares in the Corbières massif near Narbonne.

Firefighters on the ground, supported by Canadair water bombers and helicopters, have been actively working to contain the blaze. Footage shows repeated water drops over the burning vegetation, with thick smoke rising from multiple areas. Fire crews have been hosing down flames as fire engines navigate the affected zone.

The fire is occurring near the site of a much larger wildfire that destroyed about 11,000 hectares roughly a year ago. In response to the current blaze, around 240 firefighters, 60 vehicles, and 10 aircraft have been deployed to manage the situation.
