Several prominent figures associated with democratic socialism have recently attempted to distance themselves from the more radical elements of the ideology. However, according to a report by the National Review on Tuesday, August 11th, 2026, the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) as an organization continue to uphold their national platform without any signs of retreat.

The National Review notes, "The problem with all of these rhetorical retreats is that over at the DSA mother ship, no one is retreating from the group’s national platform."

This development highlights a divide between individual democratic socialist leaders and the broader organizational stance of the DSA within the United States political landscape.
