Hunter Biden, son of former President Joe Biden, described President Donald Trump as an "existential threat" to the United States during an interview on Monday, August 11, 2026. Speaking with conservative media personality Tucker Carlson, Biden blamed wealthy tech leaders for deepening the country's political divide.

Biden pointed to Trump's cordial relationships with prominent tech figures such as Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, suggesting these connections have encouraged tech companies to advance Trump's political agenda. "They make more money by dividing people," Biden said. "They just let the algorithm roll, and it’s tearing us apart."

He further stated, "I am not this believer that Trump is merely the symptom of a disease. I believe that Trump is central to why this disease has gone from a local epidemic to a pandemic in the United States of America."

Meanwhile, Democrats have broadly criticized corporate leaders' involvement with the White House and have sought to limit the growing influence of the tech industry. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) told Fox News that large tech companies are seeking "totally unchecked power" and advocated for their breakup.

Hunter Biden has also taken an active role in the Democratic Party ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.
