Riley Green, known as a rising star in country music, recently shared how his acting career began unexpectedly with the help of actor Luke Grimes. During an appearance on "CBS Mornings" on Monday, August 11th, 2026, the 37-year-old Alabama native revealed that Grimes, star of the "Yellowstone" series, encouraged him to step outside his comfort zone and audition for the CBS drama "Marshals."

Green explained, "It happened so organically because he was starting his music career and coming to Nashville a little bit. We wrote together. I said, 'Well I'm interested.' He said, 'I've got this show.' A couple months later, I went out and read for a part."

Green made his acting debut as Garrett, a former Navy SEAL struggling with PTSD, alongside Grimes in the "Yellowstone" spinoff. Before his breakthrough in music and acting, Green worked as a construction worker framing homes until he signed a record deal in 2018.

He signed with Big Machine Label Group that year and gained recognition with hits like "There Was This Girl," "I Wish Grandpas Never Died," "Half of Me," "Different 'Round Here," "You Look Like You Love Me" with Ella Langley, and "Worst Way."

Earlier in 2026, Green acknowledged that opportunities like his acting role don't come every day. His friendship with Grimes played a pivotal role in this unexpected career move.

Christina Dugan Ramirez, an entertainment journalist with over 15 years of experience, reported on Green's story for Fox News Digital.
