The Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law at Arizona State University (ASU) and the Hoover Institution at Stanford University are jointly sponsoring the Second Annual Aspiring Free Speech Scholars Workshop. Law students, judicial law clerks, lawyers, and beginning academics interested in publishing journal articles on free speech law are encouraged to submit draft articles by Sunday, August 16, 2026.

Due to a technical issue, submissions sent before June 4, 2026, were lost. Contributors are asked to resubmit or submit for the first time at https://tinyurl.com/aspiring-free-speech-scholars.

Submissions do not need to be fully polished or complete, as the workshop focuses on reviewing drafts rather than finished products. Selected authors will be invited to present their papers and receive feedback during the workshop scheduled for Saturday, October 24, 2026, at the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law in Phoenix, with a dinner the evening before.

Authors will be notified of their selection by Tuesday, September 8, 2026. The organizers will cover transportation and lodging expenses for those attending.

Additionally, authors may opt to have their articles reviewed for publication in the Journal of Free Speech Law (http://JournalOfFreeSpeechLaw.org), likely after revising their drafts based on workshop feedback.

The Stanton Foundation generously supports this initiative.
