George Dib, a Sydney fugitive accused of leading a global organised crime syndicate, was arrested last week in Lebanon. The Australian Federal Police (AFP) stated that Dib is suspected of brokering and organising multiple drug shipments to Australia from various international criminal groups over the past 11 years.

Dib, the son of a respected service station entrepreneur, first came under law enforcement scrutiny in 2013 before disappearing. Although never convicted, he was suspected to be involved with the "Aussie Cartel," which was dismantled in Türkiye in 2023.

According to an intelligence file from the NSW Crime Commission obtained by ABC, Dib is alleged to be a key figure in another offshore drug conglomerate. Alongside associates Alameddine and Haouchar, he is accused of sending threatening messages known as 'AUS weekly market updates' to Sydney's criminal circles, attempting to fix the cocaine distribution price at $225,000 per kilogram.

These messages, whose authors remain unclear, were circulated shortly after the killing of crime boss Alen Moradian in a Bondi car park. The NSW Crime Commission reportedly operated under a similar rule of law, disseminating comparable threats throughout the underworld between 2022 and 2023.

Lebanese media reported that Dib, nicknamed "Junior," was apprehended by the Information Branch of Lebanon's Internal Security Force during a night raid. He now faces the possibility of spending decades in a Middle Eastern prison over the charges.
