PARIS, Aug 13 – French swimmer Florent Manaudou, who won the 50m freestyle gold medal at the 2012 Olympics, announced his retirement from competitive swimming on Saturday at the European Aquatics Championships in Paris.

The 35-year-old told France TV on Thursday, "Two years later, I'm announcing the end," referring to his absence from competition since the 2024 Paris Games, where he earned a bronze medal in his signature event.

Manaudou leaves the sport as one of France's greatest swimmers, having won six Olympic medals: one gold in 2012, three silvers, and two bronzes across four Olympic Games. He is also the younger brother of Laure Manaudou, the 2004 Olympic champion, and has claimed multiple World Championship titles during his career.
