Queensland cattle farmer Darryl Valroy Young, 63, is on trial accused of fatally shooting his neighbour Graham Tighe and Mr Tighe's mother and stepfather, Maree Schwarz and Mervyn Schwarz, on August 4, 2022, at Bogie. He also faces charges of attempted murder against Ross Tighe, Mr Tighe's brother.

Court proceedings have revealed claims that Mr Young would allegedly "spy" on the neighbouring property and "linger" around on his buggy. Mr Young's son, Derek Young, testified that he asked his father on the morning of the incident to let wind farm workers into Shannonvale Station, which is near the property, around 7:30 a.m. The workers were informed of the shooting around 11:30 a.m. when one called their boss to turn on the radar.

Ross Tighe gave evidence stating he and his family members were shot by Mr Young, and after being wounded, he drove to find help. Meanwhile, Mr Young's lawyer contended that his client never saw the family at the gate of his Bogie cattle station on the morning of the shooting.

During the trial, quotes attributed to Mr Young include an invitation to meet at the border of Shannonvale at 8 a.m., naming those expected to be present. However, some statements were challenged in court.

The trial continues as jurors hear further evidence regarding the events of that day.
