Three US States to Carry Out Executions on Same Day for First Time Since 2010

Tennessee, Alabama, and Oklahoma plan lethal injections of death row inmates on Thursday, marking the first triple execution day in the US since 2010.

For the first time since 2010, three US states—Tennessee, Alabama, and Oklahoma—are scheduled to execute inmates on the same day, Thursday, August 13, 2026. The last occurrence of three executions on a single day was 16 years ago in Louisiana, Ohio, and Texas.

All three inmates were sentenced to death for murder convictions. In Tennessee, Anthony Darrell Hines is set to be executed for the 1985 murder of Catherine Jean Jenkins, a 54-year-old motel maid in Kingston Springs. Hines was sentenced to death in 1986 and, despite winning a new sentencing hearing, was again sentenced to death in 1989.

Russell County District Attorney Richard Chancey commented on one of the cases, stating, “To see on video what he did to this baby, what a grown man could do to a child, it’s shocking, it’s horrible, it’s disgusting. It’s just a level of evil.”

Additional news includes US authorities reporting at least three killed in a North Carolina mass shooting and the US seeking extradition of a Filipino church leader accused of fraud and sex crimes.
