Despite the close Democratic race, attention is shifting to the Republican side, where incumbent Congressman Tom Tiffany overwhelmingly defeated challenger Andy Manske, capturing over 95% of the vote. Tiffany faced minimal opposition, bolstered by an endorsement from former President Donald Trump.
Some observers have expressed concern that the GOP may face momentum challenges heading into the general election, noting that approximately 788,000 Democrats cast ballots in their primary compared to about 490,000 Republicans. However, Tiffany's decisive win contrasts with the tighter Democratic contest, which drew significant national attention, including support for Hong from far-left activists such as livestreamer Hasan Piker.
A lot will be said about the less-than-one-point margin between the Democratic candidates and what it means for the party's future, but the Republican results present a different narrative as Wisconsin approaches the midterms.
