Major Jason Watson of the United States Air Force is facing military charges for publicly calling for the impeachment and removal of President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance. The charges relate to his statements concerning the US-Israel war on Iran.

The Air Force confirmed it is pursuing charges against Watson under three articles of the Uniform Code of Military Justice, including Article 88, which prohibits contemptuous words against the President, Vice President, and Congress. Watson remains in pre-trial confinement but will be afforded due process rights.

Watson’s lawyer, Christopher Mutimer, stated that Watson acted with full awareness of the risks to his career and liberty. Mutimer expressed hope that Watson’s courage would inspire other Americans who feel powerless to speak out and stand by their convictions.

The call for impeachment was made during a protest organized by the activist group Removal Coalition, which claimed Watson was the first active duty military officer to publicly call for Trump’s impeachment and removal. The protest was also attended by US lawmakers.

Watson criticized Trump, saying, “He has failed us. And not only is he a failure as president; he is flagrantly violating the Constitution, breaking the law, engaged in rampant misconduct and is killing Americans.”

This development comes amid ongoing tensions related to US soldiers killed in the Iran conflict and President Trump’s vow that Iran will “pay” for those deaths.
